Balancing athletics and career growth takes strategy. A junior at Elon University, captain of the men’s soccer team, set out to do just that: find an internship that fit alongside his summer league commitments in Jacksonville.

He reached out, hoping to connect with the right opportunity. One professional at FIS promised to check with recruiters about available in-person internships. Another asked for scheduling details and compensation expectations, ready to connect him with the right people. With the right network, career goals don’t have to wait for the off-season.

The "ask"

I am a junior at Elon University, majoring in Project Management. I am a member of the Martha & Spencer Love School of Business and am also a student-athlete, serving as captain of the Elon University men’s soccer team for the past two years.

I am reaching out to inquire about potential internship opportunities in Jacksonville for the summer of 2025. I will be playing for the Jacksonville Armada’s summer league team during that time, and I am hoping to find an internship that complements my athletic schedule. I am open to both remote and in-person internships in any business-related field.

I have secured housing in Jacksonville for the summer, so I am fully settled in the area. I would be grateful for any advice or connections you might have that could help me find a suitable internship opportunity.
