Connecting with healthcare professionals and alumni in the medical field is incredibly valuable. Few resources provide better insights than your professional community, especially if you have connections in the industry.

At Denison, the Co-President of Denison’s Pre-Med Association is compiling a master list of healthcare professionals who are open to shadowing or participating in panels for the organization.

Shadowing offers invaluable insights for aspiring medical professionals, allowing them to witness the day-to-day realities of the profession, the dedication required for long hours, the critical thinking involved in complex decision-making, and the empathy needed to navigate patient interactions.

Thanks to Protopia, the club recruited eigh alumni to assist students (with very high feedback ratings). Way to go!

The "ask"

Hi! I am a rising senior from Pittsburgh, PA, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. At Denison, I conduct research on bacteriophage therapy, teach cycling classes at the Hoaglin wellness center, participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking County, and coach the local Granville girl’s youth lacrosse team. I am honored to serve as the Co-President of Denison’s Pre-Med Association this upcoming year.

Denison’s Pre-Med Association is a club started in 2022. We are compiling a master list of healthcare professionals (MD, DO, PA, RN, DPT, etc.) who would be open to shadowing or being on a panel for our organization. It goes without saying that shadowing offers invaluable insights for aspiring medical professionals. It allows them to witness the day-to-day realities of the profession, including the dedication required for long hours, the critical thinking involved in complex decision-making, and the empathy needed to navigate patient interactions. This firsthand exposure helps members gauge their fit within the medical field and make informed decisions about their future careers. Through this platform, we want to create local and worldwide connections that will allow us to provide these opportunities to our members!

We are incredibly grateful to attend a school that provides the resources that connect us with an extensive, successful alumni network. Denison’s Pre-Med Association is excited to branch out our network to prepare current pre-health students!
