Our Fall graduating class of features makes it even simpler for alumni and students to connect (and staff to support).

One thing we don’t do well is sit on our hands. So again we had a lot of conversations with our customers about more ways that we can make engagement simpler for alumni, students, and staff.

Career Resources when and where they're needed

We’re excited to formally launch our new SmartResources feature to share your best, relevant tools, experts, jobs, etc. with students and alumni networking via Protopia. The symbiotic relationships between alumni and career services is one of the most critical success factors for a networking tool as broad and simple as Protopia. Career Services drives demand for alumni by encouraging students, and Alumni Affairs delivers a passionate, ready-to-help community of graduates.

Magic Thank You

A few weeks ago we had a great conversation with Duke and other customers about assisting students with crafting “thank you” notes to responding alumni. You probably know firsthand how hard it is to say “thank you” when the help you received was, well, not all that helpful. So our engineers jumped at the opportunity to innovate and launched our new Magic Thank You feature. Based on thousands of past “thank you’s”, the request, and the alum’s responds, it generates a personalized recommendation simply by clicking on our magic wand. When we see a great idea, we jump at it.

Better Questions (beta)

Speaking of magic, we’re releasing more of it in October to help students (and alumni) better connect to one other. Asking for help is hard for most of us, so our new SmartCoach will craft a personalized question based on the expressed need, the institution, interests, and other factors. It’s now available in beta to customers so that we can get feedback and build on it.

Reporting, Referrals, and Accessibility

We have also spent a lot of time enhancing our reporting and analytics (in our Dashboard), improved our referral logic (how to share and report when an alum invites someone in their network to help), and shored up our accessibility. That last part is really important because inclusivity in networking is at the core of what we do.
