Big decisions feel lighter with the right guidance. Choosing a career isn’t just about picking a job—it’s about shaping a future.
One student, eager to explore optometry, reached out for insights on internships, skills, and career prep. And they didn’t just get advice. They connected with an optometrist who had spent 40 years in the field, balancing employment and private practice, even leading state and national initiatives. That kind of wisdom? You won’t find it in a brochure.
One conversation can turn uncertainty into clarity, hesitation into confidence. Who wouldn’t want that before making a life-changing choice?
Keep it simple,
Max
Hello, I am a freshman from Boulder, Colorado and I am planning on majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BCMB). I am also on the men’s Lacrosse team at the College.
I’m reaching out to connect with alumni in the optometry field to gain insights into the profession, expand my network, and explore potential internship opportunities. I have a strong interest in optometry, and I am planning on applying to Optometry schools in the future.
As I plan my academic and career path, I’m eager to learn more about the optometry profession, from the day-to-day challenges to the skills needed for success. Any advice on internships, career development, or preparation for optometry programs would be super helpful as I start this process.
If you’re open to connecting, I’d greatly appreciate your insights and guidance. Please let me know if there might be an opportunity to speak on the phone or email.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Hi, I would be more than happy to talk with you about a career in Optometry. It has been my passion for 40 years.
I have experienced both being employed and owning my own practice. I’ve also been President of the State Association and involved in National Issues with the profession. I’m class of ‘81 at Wooster and went to The New England College of Optometry.
I’m semi retired, only working Wednesday/Thursday so I’m available to talk most days and evenings.
Let me know what works for you.
Thank you for your response I really appreciate it. I just sent you a text regarding a phone call on Thursday at 5:30 PM. I am looking forward to speaking with you soon.
This is a great resource for students. It’s also a great opportunity for Wooster alums to use our life experiences to help students make decisions about their future. |
