Most student dream of traveling, studying, and/or working in another country, there’s a great feeling that comes with exploring opportunities outside our country. Of course for most it is out of reach — but asking your community for help is a great first step.

Hi! I’m a dance student at UNCSA. I’m seeking advice on exploring job opportunities in concert dance in Europe and understanding the process of acquiring a work visa to pursue these opportunities.
Thank you!
Hello STUDENT, you would need to have a visa if you’re American for the UK. The UK is no longer part of the European Union so if you wanted to work in an EU state that would require a separate Visa.
Concert Dance Companies often have people in them from all over the world, so it may be worth exploring some of those companies and seeing if you can do an intensive as a student with them, then you would have a student visa which is easier to get if you are under 25.
Also, like the states they often give opportunities to dancers who have done training with them. As an artist you usually get a visa for a specific job and the company has to sponsor you, so you already have to have been hired.
My advice would be to research the companies first and then see their process for hiring dancers and then take it from there.
Good Luck
